This paper discusses the growing connection between religious identities, globalization and terrorism, with a particular emphasis on Islam.The author examines the connection between Islam as a religion and Islam as a threat in the globalized world. Further, he clarifies the differences between the new form of religious terrorism and its older, more secular predecessor. He concludes by looking at the challenges we face in countering religious terrorism and suggests a possible two-way strategy.
